Ask a local ...Why Oddington is a great place to live

Find out why Oddington is a great village to live in. We ask Tim who has lived in this delightful part of the Cotswolds all his life.

    1. Where do you live?
I live in Oddington, comprising Lower and Upper Oddington, two adjoining typical Cotswold villages in Gloucestershire, lying a couple of miles south east of Stow on the Wold. I grew up locally and have lived in Oddington for seventeen years.

    2. What do you do?
      I am partially retired.

    3. What made you decide to move here?
I have always lived in this area and so I wanted to stay local to the area I was born in. We were looking for a single storey building, as my wife wasn't well at the time. We found the ideal property here in Oddington and I have since altered and extended it.

    4. What do you love about living here?
I'm tucked away from the main road through the village so this spot is relatively quiet with regards to traffic, which I love. It is also very convenient for getting to other parts of the Cotswolds by using the minor roads to avoid traffic hotspots.

    5. What do you like to do in the area?
I like to go clay pigeon shooting and walking. There are some lovely walks in the area and the village is surrounded by lovely open countryside.

    6. Do you have a favourite local shop?
Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is a lovely 20 minute walk along farm roads and I also get my newpaper delivered from Kingham Village Stores. For general shopping the supermarket in Stow is very convenient.

    7. Favourite local place to eat out?
The area has many good gastro pubs such as The Wild Rabbit in Kingham and The Feathered Nest in Nether Westcote, to name just two. There are so may to choose from.
